Brad Miller Has To Go Home

Brad Miller (US House of Representatives for the 13th District) has to go home. His remarks last fall that he does not care about what his constituents think was unforgivable.  The comment below from this announcement to the Coffee Party is directed at us:

Voicing frustration with what he perceives as an angry minority, looking for targets at which to direct blame and often operating outside the bounds of rational, fact-based decision making, Rep. Miller reported a huge increase in vicious, racist, violent rhetoric directed at both him and at his staff.

You can draw your own conclusions but this arrogant and incompetent lackey’s time is up. Did you know that Brad is one of the few “legislators” holding up the audit of the fed with Barney Frank?

I will agree with one thing the Coffee Party states: it is time to wake up and stand up for our rights, our property and our freedom.

Coffee with Congress:
Representative Brad Miller

Five representatives of the Triangle Chapter of the Coffee Party Movement met with U.S. House Representative Brad Miller and his District Director, Pam Kohl on Monday, May 10 and opened a dialogue with the Congressman toward furthering the mission of the Coffee Party Movement.Rep. Miller expressed enthusiasm for the goals of the Coffee Party Movement to return honest, substantive deliberation to public discourse.Voicing frustration with what he perceives as an angry minority, looking for targets at which to direct blame and often operating outside the bounds of rational, fact-based decision making, Rep. Miller reported a huge increase in vicious, racist, violent rhetoric directed at both him and at his staff. He encouraged anyone to read the 1964 Harper’s Magazine essay by Richard Hofstadter, “The Paranoid Style in American Politics.” This civil-rights era discussion about gaining political leverage by exploiting the “animosities and passions of a small minority” continues to resonate today.

Having just returned from a trip to Afghanistan , Pakistan and Haiti , Rep. Miller noted that, though the vast majority of Pakistanis Muslims decry terrorism, the small minority (approximately 15%) with violent extremist views are capable of inordinate destructiveness.

Rep. Miller further conveyed his dismay over the apparent breakdown of productive civil discourse in national policy debate, attributing this largely to hyper-partisanship and the undue influence of special interests. Ms. Kohl pointed out that this current dysfunction was unlikely to change unless and until the American electorate demands change.

Rep. Miller contrasted the policy-making culture at the national level with his experience with the NC General Assembly (as a State Representative from 1992-1994 and a Senator from 2004-2006). He viewed debate in the state legislature as far more consensus driven, with legislators willing to compromise to find workable, common-ground solutions regardless of party affiliation or ideology. He also noted a greater understanding and tolerance at the state level for refining legislation, once enacted, rather than scrapping entire programs with the emergence of minor, fixable flaws.

The Coffee Party delegation discussed financial reform legislation with Rep. Miller, conveying the group’s support for more effective regulation to achieve greater accountability and transparency in financial markets. Rep. Miller voted in favor of the passed House Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (summary), currently under debate in the Senate (summary), and he co-sponsored the Safe Banking Act of 2010, aimed at protections against too-big-to-fail financial institutions (press release).

Rep. Miller pointed out that, just 25 years ago, the financial sector accounted for only 16% of domestic corporate profits, but in the past decade, this percentage had increased to 45%, while over the same period, average compensation in the financial sector, as compared to other sectors of the economy, began just slightly higher, but has grown to more than 40% higher. (The only other time in this country’s history that this discrepancy reached more than 30% was immediately prior to the Great Depression.) Competition in the financial sector would logically force these numbers down. “Effective reform must put market forces back at work,” said Miller.

The meeting concluded with the Coffee Party’s commitment to promote a membership of well-informed, solutions-focused individuals and a hope for continued two-way dialogue toward achieving the Coffee Party Movement’s mission.

Office of Representative Brad Miller (NC District 13)

COFFEE PARTY MISSION STATEMENT: The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.

Agenda 21 Comes to Greensboro

Greensboro is considering a plan for Agenda 21. When I downloaded and read the plan, I saw that the “GHG Inventory” was made using software provided by an organization called ICLEI, whose primary goal is the implementation of the United Nations Agenda 21 plan on the local level. Agenda 21 is a crucial component of a one-world government, in which nations are no longer sovereign and individual rights are dictated by the United Nations. It calls for a complete transformation of society through wealth and land distribution, bureaucratic control over resources, the abolition of private property rights, and communitarian philosophy. In the document we read this: Read more »

A lesson from a Davy Crockett constituent

This was an email from Pam Reynolds and I thought it worth sharing.

Hi Friends, I grew up in a political family… mayors, councilmen, commissioners. We always believed in voting for the common man who has honesty and principles. It never concerned us whether or not they had experience. I was always taught each honest man should serve their country, give their ideas and then go back to plowing their field. I wish that our Country had always held to this mind set. This constituent would have made a great public servant for a term. I also wish our ancestors along with ourselves had done a better job protecting our Constitution. We also know that we always take care of our neighbors and our government should not have begun the practice of handing out our money way back when. This is just my opinion and I felt like sharing it with my friends.

The following story is an excerpt from the book ” The Life of Davy Crockett” by Edward Sylvester and re-printed in the Ted Nugent book “Ted, White and Blue”: Read more »

Republicans Leaving the Party — One Woman’s Story

(A letter to the Chairman of the North Carolina GOP, Mr. Tom Fetzer)

Mr. Fetzer,

My name is Donna McDowell and I have always been a supporter of the Republican Party, however, after careful consideration of the Republican plan as Mr. Obama came to our great state (to not be there on the street, but at home making phone calls) I am changing to an independent registered voter and will look at each candidate carefully before I lend my vote, time, or money to anyone anymore.

It is no longer a politically correct world! Period! It is “all in” for me. I will no longer support any party or candidate that looks to still drive down the middle of the road for votes. You have to either take action for America by acting upon our core values set forth by the founding father or you need to get out of our way.

The Republican Party in NC is split / broken and there are no signs from anyone in the leadership roles of fixing that issue. You are NOT going to unite us by telling us to make a phone call instead of showing up in force on the streets while Mr.Obama is in our house. We did not need a permit!!!!!! We have the right to free speech and I plan to exercise it every chance I get. We are making the “Calls” to Hagan, Price, Etheridge…etc. they are not answering!!! They are not even sending the usual form letter ” yes I got your call …but I don’t care”.

There is time for making phone calls and sending mails. Today was not the day. Today was the day for all conservatives to be on the street to oppose Obama, the statist Democrats and their socialist supporters.

Today was also the day I left the republican party.

Sincerely,
Donna McDowell

An Open Letter to Clergy of NC

Rev. Charles Finney (1792-1895) once stated, “If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.”

He was right – recently a bill passed in the NC Legislature under the guise of “anti-bullying” in the schools, but what it really does is allow for teaching of “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” to our innocent children in public schools. As if there is any one group of individuals who need more protecting over another – bullying is bullying and that is wrong. But now in our state, here in the Bible Belt, we have paved the way for children to think homosexuality is anything other than the abomination God calls it. We have paved for the way for them to think God made them wrong – that they shouldn’t have been the boy or girl God made them. And you, pastors, were silent on this.

The “Hates Crimes” bill at the federal level will soon be voted on and our religious freedoms are being chipped away at, because you have been silent. Soon our Bibles will become “hate speech” and be taken away by this God-hating generation, and you, pastors, have remained silent. Our government is filled with anti-biblical, pro-abortion legislators, and you have endorsed them – some overtly, and the rest by your silence. Our young people are taught to be dependent on the government to take care of them, personal responsibility is at an all-time low, and we have no pride in the heritage of our country, our founding Fathers, and you, pastors, are silent. Our president told Muslim leaders that America is not a Christian nation, and you, pastors, remained silent.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 states, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;” Well, this is exactly what has happened in America. Pastors and preachers today keep silent on issues like abortion and gay marriage, among others, for fear of losing their “tax-exempt status”. In reality, churches are automatically tax-exempt because they are churches – they cannot lose this. According to the Alliance Defense Fund, the only time a church can be made to pay a penalty, in the form of an “excise tax” is when it “endorses a particular candidate, contribute either funds or in-kind services to a candidate’s campaign, or distribute literature for a particular candidate.” That’s it. There is no law that restricts churches from “defining moral positions and asking people to vote accordingly.”

My question is, even if there is a penalty – who is your god? What “truth” are you teaching, pastors? Are you dumbing down your congregations with the same messages – feeding them only milk week after week when you have been called out to change their lives with the truth of God’s Word? Are you watering down your sermons for fear of losing influential members (those itching ears)? Are you, and I know some of you are in Caswell County, teaching that blacks and whites can’t marry? Are you silent about homosexuality because it’s not politically correct? How many young girls in your congregations have aborted their babies because you haven’t preached on staying pure? Have you conformed to the ways of the world in order to grow your churches and your pocketbooks?

Heretics! White-washed tombs, as Jesus called the Pharisees – that’s what you have become! I challenge you to start preaching the truth. Yes, you will be hated for it, and you will be persecuted for it – from within your own churches first – but WHOM do you serve? Will you one day call out, “Lord, Lord, we taught in your name,” and will He say to you, “depart from me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you” ? The time is now – God is calling, but few will answer. Begin by teaching the Word, chapter by chapter, verse by verse – throw away your topical speeches and your “felt needs” sermons. If you are willing to stand up and proclaim the whole counsel of God without fear, then join us in Raleigh on July 4th at Halifax Mall, at 1 PM , as pastors from all over the state will be asked to stand for truth.
